The wines of the Colline Lucchesi have a tradition that, on the basis of precise historical records, we can link back to Roman times and the Middle Ages. The optimal climatic conditions of the Lucca hills have always guaranteed to screw a suitable environment for its natural development. Red wine has a ruby ​​red color, a fruity and slightly herbaceous taste, dry and soft; the minimum alcohol content of 11° percent or 11.5° percent depending on the type, the varietal composition is as follows: Sangiovese. Canaiolo and/or Ciliegiolo, Merlot; other red grapes can be used if present within the farm, recommended and/or authorized by the Province of Lucca. The white wine has a straw-white color or pale yellow, a delicate aroma and pleasant taste dry, harmonious with a minimum alcohol content of 10.5 ° or 11 ° depending on the type, the varietal composition is as follows: Trebbiano Toscano, Greco, Grechetto, Vermentino white, Malvasia del Chianti alone or jointly, Chardonnay and/or Sauvignon; other white grapes can be used if present within the farm, recommended and/or authorized by the Province of Lucca. Red wine has been recognized as DOC in 1968 and the white wine in 1985. The Red goes preferably with vegetable soups particularly tasty, egg pasta with meat sauce, grilled meat and poultry. The Bianco is served preferably with white meat and fish.
