Kitchen protagonist of one of the meetings of the programming “Incontri d’arte a Lucca”, a series of meetings and guided tours proposed by the educational section of the Cathedral Museum that invite you to know important details of the most famous monuments.

Thursday, March 22 we talk about the food in art between ancient recipes and images in the Cathedral. The meeting is at 16:00 at the Oratory of St. Giuseppe, curated by Maria Grazia Cacciapaglia that will lead us to discover the representation of food in art according to different keys of interpretation: from the symbolic interpretation to the analysis of the economic and social implications related to it, without forgetting recipes and treatises that over the centuries have unveiled recipes and customs related to the art of cooking, an instrument of ostentation since ancient times. ​​​​​​

The meeting will focus on the context of Lucca and, in particular, on the representation of food in the cathedral from the cycle of the months in the atrium to the famous Tintoretto’s Last Supper, without omitting the surprising details related to conviviality included in the other paintings of the aisles.
